NEW DELHI: NCP (SP) veteran Sharad Pawar on Thursday shared the stage with Maharashtra deputy chief minister and his nephew Ajit Pawar during the annual general meeting of the Vasantdada Sugar Institute.
This marked the second instance in a week where the two leaders were seen together publicly.
Earlier, they had shared a stage at the inaugural event of the ‘2025 Agriculture Festival’ in Baramati. On that occasion, the uncle-nephew duo avoided sitting next to each other.
While Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Baramati MP Supriya Sule, and Ajit Pawar’s wife, Rajya Sabha MP Sunetra Pawar, were present and seated beside each other, their interaction was limited to polite smiles.
The family dynamic has been strained since the split within the Pawar family and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Ajit Pawar has repeatedly avoided public appearances with his uncle, especially during the Lok Sabha and Assembly election campaigns, where both factions engaged in sharp rhetoric and contested fiercely.
However, after Ajit Pawar assumed the role of deputy chief minister in the Mahayuti alliance‘s second term, there have been some moments of reconciliation. In December, Ajit Pawar, his family members, and senior NCP leaders visited Sharad Pawar’s Delhi residence to wish him on his birthday.
