Weight Loss Story: From 94 kg to 71 kg, this IT professional lost weight through home workouts

For 32-year-old Subhashree Rautaray, an IT professional and mother of a five-year-old daughter, the realization that her health was slipping away came from an innocent comment by her child. Watching a playful mother-daughter reel, her daughter said, “Mumma, you have to look like my elder sister when I grow up so we can wear each other’s dresses.” That simple wish became a powerful wake-up call.

The turning point

In December 2023, Subhashree weighed over 94 kg. Her journey toward health was not just about appearance—it was about reclaiming her well-being, reversing age-related decline, and being an active, present parent. “I wanted to set an example for my daughter and show her how important it is to care for oneself,” she says.

The motivation to transform

After years of failed gym memberships and crash diets, Subhashree knew a different approach was necessary. Her transformation began in January 2024 with a commitment to a home-cooked diet and a modest daily routine of 30 minutes of walking and 15 minutes of home workouts.
“I reminded myself that this wasn’t just about looking good. It was about preventing health issues and being the best version of myself for my family. Every kilo I lost motivated me to keep going,” she shares.

Diet and workout followed

Consistency was her greatest weapon. “I didn’t join a gym at first because I had failed so many times before. I focused on small changes—balanced, home-cooked meals, portion control, and calorie deficit,” she explains. Subhashree cut out processed foods, limited dining out, and prioritized protein and fiber-rich meals. Tracking her diet and water intake helped her stay on course.
By July 2024, she added strength training at the gym to her routine. The results came slowly but steadily. In three months, her weighing scale began to reflect her effort, and she finally fit into her old dresses—an emotional moment of triumph.

Reaching milestones

“Shifting from XXXL to Large/Medium (depending on the brand) was a dream come true,” Subhashree says. Her total weight loss—over 20 kg—transformed her from 94 kg to 71 kg, reducing her BMI from a high-risk category to a healthier range. The journey also restored her confidence and energy levels.
Today, she continues to strengthen her body and aims to achieve her ideal weight for her height. “This journey is not over. I’m focusing on building muscle and maintaining my progress with the right mindset.”

Recognizing the power of sharing her experience, Subhashree has taken to social media to document her weight loss journey. She hopes to inspire others to believe in themselves and take that first step toward their goals.
