Minister for Agriculture N. Cheluvarayaswamy on Monday said the State government was spending a sum of ₹220 crore on every taluk in the State annually for the implementation of five guarantee schemes that became a reality after the Congress government came to power.
Speaking after presiding over the Janata Darshan held at Koppa village in Maddur taluk of Mandya district, Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy, who is the Minister-in-charge of Mandya district, said the guarantee schemes had been launched amidst the opposition from various quarters. Today, every taluk was benefiting from the schemes, and a sum of ₹220 crore was being spent on every taluk by the government.
The Minister said the people need not have to go to the government offices to avail of the benefits of the guarantees. A system has been established, and they get their benefits directly to their accounts.
The elected representatives have to keep in mind that they are here to serve the people and provide succour to their problems, he said.
“Nobody will thank you after their work is done. People will come again with new applications seeking solutions to their problems. We have to continuously work to address them.”
Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy said that other States have expressed their appreciation for how the State government was identifying beneficiaries for various programmes. The details regarding the information collected from beneficiaries using technology have also been praised.
This is the second Janata Darshan in Koppa and the applications received from the people will be attended to lawfully. The Minister said he has already directed the officials to identify land for the construction of a police station, inspection bungalow, and the nada kacheri here. Also, a sum of ₹one crore has been released for the construction of the panchayat office and the library.
The Minister said a sum of ₹1.96 crore has been released for promoting dairy farming in Koppa, and over 2,000 people have benefitted from it. About 36 lahks of revenue documents, including farmlands and other data, in Mandya have been digitized.
Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy said for the first time in history that the KRS dam is full to its brim for a continuous 154 days. And farmers are happy about it. Steps have been taken for filling up the lakes in the district and the water to the canals has been released for irrigation. He said the farm university is going to come up at VC Farm in Mandya.
