The Hindu Group is all set to host the 13th edition of The Hindu Lit For Life 2025 on January 18 and 19 at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall in Chennai. This year’s festival promises to enthral literature enthusiasts with a rich blend of thought-provoking discussions, storytelling, and workshops.
The Hindu Lit For Life 2025 embraces literature in its broadest sense, spanning fiction, poetry, memoirs, biographies, travel, science, politics, cinema, theatre, and more.
Speaking about the event, Nirmala Lakshman, Chairperson of The Hindu Group, said, “What makes The Hindu’s Lit for Life distinct is that while books are at the heart of our programming, we curate as diverse a line-up as possible, including subjects like art, music, design and other cultural expressions that celebrate the human spirit. This year, we offer a diversity of conversation and share the fund of knowledge and experience from the many brilliant minds who will speak at the festival.”
This year’s speakers include authors, artists, musicians and others. Abraham Verghese, Shashi Tharoor, Jenny Erpenbeck, Francesc Miralles, Nalini Malani, Amal Allana, Leander Paes, Huma Qureshi, V. Sriram and Baradwaj Rangan are among the key speakers. At the annexe in Lady Andal School, workshops will be held on topics such as creative writing.
In the run-up to Lit For Life 2025, Chennai witnessed a series of engaging activities, including a mobile library, one-of-its-kind rap battle contest, storytelling sessions in middle schools, and a literary walk celebrating Chennai’s heritage. A short story competition and the Tales and Talks reading series in public spaces also drew significant participation.
