BJP leaders Ramesh Bidhuri and Parvesh Verma, who filed their nomination for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, have become richer since 2019 as per their poll affidavits
Controversial BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri, who makes headlines with almost every speech he delivers, has a clean slate with no pending criminal cases against him. The former MP filed his nomination papers from Kalkaji on Wednesday, for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
According to his poll affidavit for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bidhuri was facing two cases that he claimed were “politically motivated”. In both, charges were framed against him.
He has, however, significantly become richer since 2019 as per his latest papers. He owned three cars in 2019, and has purchased two more since then. At present, he owns four cars – Mahindra Scorpio (2018 and 2022 models), Toyota Innova (2017), and Hyundai Creta (2022). In 2019, he had another Mahindra Scorpio (2014) that has not been listed by him this time.
The value of his movable assets, including cars, stood at Rs 1.34 crore in 2019, which has increased to Rs 2.57 crore. He has not purchased any immovable assets after 2019, but still became richer as the value of his existing properties increased. In 2019, the value of his immovable assets stood at Rs 12.19 crore, which is now Rs 12.30 crore.
Bidhuri (61) is the BJP’s bet against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi (43) from the Kalkaji seat. Atishi has four pending criminal cases against her, while the value of her movable assets is Rs 76.91 lakh. She does not own any immovable assets, as per the poll affidavit filed by her.
Congress leader Alka Lamba (49) is also contesting from Kalkaji. Both the women have master’s degrees, while Bidhuri holds a BCom and LLB degree, as per his papers. Lamba faces one case with charges of assault or criminal force against public servants from 2017 when she took part in a protest.
Her movable assets stood at Rs 61.12 lakh, up from Rs 41.01 lakh in 2020 when she contested from Chandni Chowk. At Rs 2.80 crore, the value of her immovable assets stood unchanged.
PARVESH VERMA BECAME RICHER
Just like Bidhuri, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma is also a former MP, who is now contesting the Delhi polls. He is fighting against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly seat.
He is facing a defamation case filed by AAP leader Manish Sisodia. In 2019, he did not have any criminal cases against him.
As against Rs 17 lakh for 2018-19, the annual income of Parvesh from business and social work for 2023-24 stood at Rs 19.68 crore. It was the same for his wife, whose annual income increased from Rs 5.95 lakh to Rs 91.99 lakh from private service and social work.
His 2019 documents show that he owned a Fortuner (2016 model) while his wife owned a Baleno from the same year. Now, in addition, he also has a 2023 model Innova Hycross and 2024 model XUV 700. His wife continues to own the same car.
The value of his immovable assets was Rs 7.75 crore in 2019, which has now increased to Rs 12.19 crore. He has GST dues worth Rs 1.61 lakh and personal loan worth Rs 54.85 crore. He also has a car loan worth Rs 22.72 lakh.
Parvesh Verma is up against Kejriwal, whose annual income in 2018-19 was Rs 2.81 lakh, and is Rs 7.21 lakh for 2023-24. He has just one land parcel in his name, which is valued at Rs 1.77 crore. The value of Kejriwal’s movable assets has dropped from Rs 9.95 lakh in 2020 to Rs 3.44 lakh in 2025.
