WWE superstar CM Punk has claimed he wouldn’t say no to a high-profile match with The Rock or John Cena. The Second City Saint has been making headlines since his return to the wrestling franchise at Survivor Series last year. Punk last appeared during RAW’s big debut on Netflix where he faced Seth Rollins in the main event. After the show, the former WWE Champion was asked in a media scrum about the prospect of reigniting a feud with either Cena or The Rock. Punk replied that while he was looking to win championships, he would likely consider facing these two huge names. “I think I want gold around my waist, but those two names come with big fat paychecks, so I’m not going to say no to it,” he told the reporters, as per multiple outlets.
CM Punk went on to claim that he ‘owed’ both The Rock and John Cena. He added that he would gladly welcome a match against either of the two stars. “It could be interesting. I wouldn’t say no to it. I’m into the big high-pressure money situations. That’s when I come alive. I definitely owe The Rock. I definitely owe John. I would welcome both of them with open arms,” he said. Speaking further, Punk joked about how he won’t hesitate to put Cena to sleep. “I saw John, passed him in the hallway, he looked a little tired and looked like he needed to Go To Sleep. I’m sure I’ll see him in Indianapolis,” he concluded.
CM Punk, John Cena and The Rock were involved in one of WWE’s leading storylines more than a decade ago. Cena won the 2013 Royal Rumble event before setting his eyes on the WWE Championship. In the same event, Punk lost his WWE title to The Rock which put an end to his 434-day reign. The Brahma Bull, on the other hand, secured his first championship since 2002. Cena eventually went on to headline WrestleMania where he faced The Rock and defeated him to win the WWE Championship.
John Cena is currently on his retirement tour and there are speculations of him winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble event. A victory would see him being in the championship conversation once again. It remains to be seen if WWE will build a storyline that would involve CM Punk and The Rock in what is Cena’s final arc with the wrestling franchise.
