Manchester United remain desperate to offload Casemiro in the January transfer window. The Brazilian midfielder is listed for sale due to a series of dismal performances. Though he has 18 months left on his current contract, the United hierarchy is unlikely to wait for his departure till next summer. He was not part of Ruben Amorim’s squad in the last Premier League game, where the Red Devils played out a 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Having lost his place in the first team, Casemiro may now shift his base to Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old is heavily linked with a move to Al Nassr, as reported by The Telegraph. If the deal happens, Casemiro might reunite with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at the Riyadh-based club. The duo won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid and played together at Manchester United.

As teammates, Casemiro and Ronaldo shared the pitch 109 times for the Spanish club and combined for nine goals. For Manchester United, they appeared in 13 matches together and contributed to one goal. Their on-field chemistry will benefit Al Nassr if they land Casemiro in a winter transfer.

Amid rumours about his January exit, GivemeSport reports that Casemiro has already received a mouth-watering offer from Al Nassr, which will see him earn $700,000 in weekly salary. If he accepts the deal with the reported wages, Casemiro will become one of the top five highest-paid players in the Saudi Pro League.

Meanwhile, Manchester United wants to sell Casemiro to generate funds for the new signings. They must balance the wage bill to avoid breaches of financial fair play rules.

“When the window is open, we can try to do something and we will try to do something. But I think, in the next weeks, we are going to have more time to train and we can improve, that’s the only way,” boss Amorim said last week.

United have kept their eyes on Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes. The 22-year-old Portuguese full-back previously played under Amorim at Sporting Lisbon. Mendes has also reached the final 18 months of his contract but PSG are keen to extend his stay.
