The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct the UGC NET 2024 for the December session from tomorrow, January 3. It will conclude on January 16. The exam will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for 85 subjects at various centres across the nation using the OMR (Pen and Paper) format. It will held in two shifts. The first shift is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the second shift is from 3 pm to 6 pm.

The exam consists of two papers. The first paper comprises 50 questions worth 100 marks. It tests general skills like awareness, reading comprehension, reasoning, research aptitude, and teaching ability. Whereas paper 2 focuses on the candidate’s chosen subject, with 100 questions worth 200 marks.

This test assesses the eligibility of candidates for assistant professor and junior research fellow positions in Indian universities.

UGC NET December 2024: What To Carry/Not Carry?

Candidates must carry a hard copy of the previously released admit card to the examination centre. They must carry one passport-size photograph and a valid ID (PAN card, Driving License, Passport, or Aadhaar Card) with a name matching the admit card. “he candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination,” the states the official notice.

The use or attempted use of any electronic device is strictly prohibited after entering the exam centre. The NTA has further stated that if a candidate indulges in any malpractice during the course of, before, or after the examination, he/she will be deemed to have used unfair practices and thus will be booked under the UNFAIR MEANS (UFM) case. The candidate would be debarred for three years in the future and will also be liable for criminal action and /or any other action as deemed fit.

UGC NET December 2024: Exam Guidelines

Candidates should take their seats immediately after the examination hall opens. Late arrivals due to reasons such as traffic jams or delays in trains/buses will likely miss important instructions.

Ensure you receive the correct question paper as mentioned in your admit card. If you receive a different subject, inform the invigilator immediately. Seats will be allocated according to roll numbers, and candidates must sit in their assigned seats.

Candidates are required to report to the examination centre two hours before the commencement of the test to complete the frisking and registration formalities well in advance. The registration desk will close down 30 minutes before the examination.
