The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced the admission procedure for the 2025-27 batch. For admission to the IIM’s prestigious Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme, students must have cleared the Common Admission Test (CAT). In addition, they must also fulfill the other criteria of the institute:

— A candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories) from any institute recognised by the Government of India. In the case of a foreign degree, the equivalence of the foreign degree needs to be certified by the Association of Indian Universities.

— For candidates who have completed an integrated masters or dual degree directly after their class 12 exam, the percentage of marks obtained as per the institution which is considered equivalent to the bachelor’s degree will be considered. In case the dual degree for UG and PG marks are not separated by the institution, the PG marks will be considered final.

— Candidates appearing for the final year of the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination may also apply.

— Those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. Such candidates, if selected will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate by June 30, 2025, from the Principal/Registrar of his/her college (issued on or before June 30, 2025) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.

— For candidates yet to complete the integrated masters or dual degree directly after the class 12th, the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in all the years/semesters till Aug 3, 2024, will be considered.

— Candidates who graduated in 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023 can also apply.

A candidate who has not received his/her graduation results at the time of registration for the MBA programme at IIM Calcutta will have to produce certificates and mark sheets in original along with the photocopies as soon as the respective institution publishes the results, but not later than December 31, 2025. Failure to produce the certificate will result in cancellation of the admission of the student.

“The final selection list will be based on merit in each category; minimum eligibility in any of the above mentioned stages or criteria would not automatically qualify the candidate for admission into IIM Calcutta. Any misrepresentation of information by the candidates shall disqualify the application and any further action is at the sole discretion of IIM Calcutta. The candidates offered admission for a particular batch cannot be deferred to any subsequent year(s) for any reason whatsoever,’ states the official notice.
