NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed Lok Sabha during a discussion on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. He hailed India’s remarkable journey since the adoption of the constitution as “extraordinary”, highlighting the nation’s deep-rooted democratic traditions that continue to inspire globally.
During his speech, PM Modi said that India is not only a big democracy but it is the mother of democracy. While discussing India’s commitment to achieving developed nation status by 2047, he emphasised that unity is the biggest requirement to achieve the goal.
“Our Constitution is the basis of our unity,” he said.
PM Modi said that India has defied all apprehensions about its democratic future after Independence and added its Constitution has brought the country to this stage today.
He also paid tributes to the Constitution’s architects and citizens for maintaining its principles.
