According to the recent exit survey held by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, of the 2656 graduates, as many as 1411 have received job offers this placement season. That means, 53.1 per cent of the students received a job offer. “IIT Delhi is happy to report that our students are keen in exploring multiple and diverse career opportunities such as startups, entrepreneurship, higher studies, post-doctoral research, civil services and many more. This was evident from an exit survey commissioned by the institute amongst the students graduated in August 2024. The survey also showed that not all of our students are availing on-campus placement services,” states the official notice by the board.
The survey also stated that 359 or 13.5 per cent of the students responded that they are going for higher studies, and 47 or 1.8 per cent of the PhD students informed that they are waiting for a post-doctoral research opportunity or for a faculty position. About 321 or 12.1 per cent of the students informed that they are preparing for different examinations, for example, civil services, engineering services, and examinations required for different government jobs.

A large fraction of these students comprised PhD scholars looking for post-doctoral research opportunities abroad,” Prof R Ayothiraman, in-charge of the Office of Career Services (OCS), IIT-Delhi told News18.
At the annual convocation held on August 10, 2024, a total of 2656 students were awarded degrees. Out of the total students who graduated, 25 per cent were women.
