E-commerce giant Flipkart’s business to business e-commerce platform Flipkart Wholesale saw its sales increase by 9.5% year on year during its festive season promotion ‘Diwali Shopotsav.’ The business also reported improved profitability during the festive period.
Flipkart Wholesale’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation were positive during its Diwali Shopotsav, ET Retail reported. The business notably saw its home textiles and seasonal décor product category experience 50% growth and its luggage and baggage segment witnessed 20% growth. In line with festive demands, its namkeen and sweets segment grew by 25%.
During the festive season, Flipkart Wholesale offered 48 hour deliveries to cater to immediate demand. The business also worked to resolve business queries within a two day timeframe to bolster customer relations and encourage new customers.
“The company saw a positive EBITDA, highlighting increased sales and improved profitability for Flipkart Wholesale and its customers,” announced the business in a statement, The Hindu reported.
Flipkart Wholesale was taken over by Flipkart from its parent company Walmart. When run by US based business Walmart, the entity was named Best Price and ran 28 brick-and-mortar wholesale stores in India. The business operates offline in 24 Indian cities and also runs an e-commerce store.
