Honda has introduced the third-generation Amaze in India, targeting the competitive compact sedan segment. The latest iteration comes with several updates aimed at enhancing safety, comfort and connectivity.
The Amaze has been designed under Honda’s “Elite Booster Sedan” concept, which emphasises a three-box sedan layout within the sub-four-meter length category. The car features a refreshed exterior design with LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a prominent grille and 15-inch, diamond-cut alloy wheels. Its interior offers a two-tone dashboard, rear AC vents, and an eight-inch touch screen infotainment system.

One of its notable aspects is the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) through Honda SENSING. Using multiple cameras that scan the road and possible obstructions in real time, the system is capable of activating various functions like collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and auto high beam. These are supplemented by standard safety features, including six airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Under the hood, the Amaze is equipped with a BS6 Phase-II and E20-compliant 1.2 litre four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine. It is paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT with paddle shifters. The claimed fuel efficiency figures are 18.65 km/l for the manual and 19.46 km/l for the CVT variant. While these numbers are competitive, the engine and transmission options remain similar to the outgoing model, with no significant updates in performance or efficiency.

The Amaze includes features like wireless charging, a seven-inch TFT instrument cluster, and Honda Connect, which offers over 37 connected car functions, including remote engine start and tracking. However, unlike some competitors, Honda has opted not to include a sunroof in this model — a feature offered in the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
While the absence of a sunroof may disappoint some buyers, Honda appears to have prioritised safety features and driving aids over other conveniences. This may appeal to safety-conscious buyers, but could deter those looking for a feature-rich package at a similar price.
The Amaze competes directly with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which has long dominated the compact sedan segment. The new Dzire, launched in October 2024, continues to lead with its widespread dealership network, reputation for reliability, and a well-balanced feature set. Maruti Suzuki currently sells close to 8,000 units of the new Dzire and numbers are set to grow in the coming fiscal.

Honda has retained the Amaze’s compact yet practical design, ensuring it appeals to urban buyers. While its interior space and technology features align with the segment’s standards, the Amaze distinguishes itself with its safety-first approach. The Amaze has been a key player in Honda’s lineup, with over 5.8 lakh units sold since its debut in 2013. With the third-generation version, Honda aims to strengthen its foothold in a rather competitive segment.
The Honda Amaze is priced between ₹7,99,900 and ₹10,89,900 (ex-showroom).
