U.S. News has unveiled its nationwide rankings of nearly 25,000 public high schools across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The rankings encompass traditional high schools, as well as charter, magnet, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) institutions. According to the official website, approximately 17,660 schools were ranked based on six key factors, including performance on state assessments and college readiness.

The majority of these schools maintain high college readiness scores, with schools like Interlake Senior High (71.0), Newport Senior High (77.5), and Issaquah High (60.5) showing strong preparedness for post-secondary education. The schools also have a range of enrollment sizes, from smaller institutions like Vashon Island High with only 509 students to larger schools like Issaquah High, which enrolls over 2,400 students. While most schools have college readiness scores well above 60, the variation in enrollment and readiness reflects the diversity of educational approaches in Washington’s public schools. Despite some differences, these schools share a commitment to preparing students for future academic success, with strong enrollment numbers and rigorous academic standards.
