It enables them to make a social impact by inspiring millions of individuals online. Deepak Rawat is one such officer who has influenced several people through his massive following on YouTube. Officer Rawat’s channel on the Google platform has more than 43 lakh subscribers. He currently serves as the Commissioner of the Kumaon district in Uttarakhand. From wanting to become a junk dealer in his childhood days to acquiring a key role in the Indian Administrative Services, Officer Rawat’s journey is a motivating one. Deepak Rawat was born on September 20, 1977. He grew up in Mussoorie and did his schooling at St Geroge’s College. He eventually moved to Delhi for higher education, doing his BA from Hansraj College of Delhi University and MA in History from JNU. He has also done MPhil in Ancient History from JNU. Officer Rawat’s journey to achieving his dreams was far from a smooth one. At the age of 24, he stopped receiving financial support from his father. He used to meet his expenses from the Rs 8000 he got every month after getting selected in JRF.
After meeting some students from Bihar during his graduation, Deepak Rawat became interested in UPSC. He dealt with failure in his first two attempts before passing the UPSC Civil Services exam with 12th rank in 2007. In his IAS interview, Officer Rawat was asked about what one can learn from the number zero. In his response, he said that Zero taught people to be neutral. Officer Rawat also added that zero meant nothing. Hence, one should bear in mind to not fall below that in life.
