NEW DELHI: South African Marco Jansen on Monday laughed his way to the bank as Punjab Kings shelled out a whopping Rs 7 crore for the all-rounder at the IPL 2025 auction.
The 24-year-old Proteas, who entered the auction at the base price of at 1.25 crore, invited three-way battle between Punjab, Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.
Punjab eventually pipped Titans to buy Jansen’s services for Ts 7 crore.

Standing 2.06 metres tall, Jansen has been part of the IPL since 2021.
The lanky all-rounder started his IPL journey with Mumbai Indians, where he represented them in 2 seasons.
After that, Jansen moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad and featured for them in the 2023 and 2024 editions.
In IPL, Jansen has so far played 21 matches in which he has 20 wickets to his name at an economy of 9.53 RPO.
Jansen’s towering height naturally presents him as a fast bowler but he actually began his journey began as a batter.
