Netflix is participating in the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) from November 20 to 28, 2024 in Goa. From empowering skilling initiatives to thought-provoking conversations, we are delighted to celebrate storytelling in all its forms with the incredible community at IFFI.”

Netflix partnered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for IFFI’s opening night and the prestigious inaugural ceremony on November 20. The evening featured an exclusive “Netflix Connect Lounge,” a dedicated space for creators, policymakers, and industry leaders to build meaningful connections and explore new avenues for creative collaboration.

On November 21, Netflix organized an exclusive preview of The Piano Lesson, a day before the highly anticipated international title started streaming globally on Netflix. This family drama starring Samuel L. Jackson has been produced by Denzel Washington and directed by Malcom Washington. It is based on a Pulitzer-prize-winning August Wilson play.

Adding to the celebration, Netflix will be hosting acclaimed actress and producer Kriti Sanon for an “In Conversation” session titled ‘Empowering Change: Women Leading the Way in Cinema’ on November 25. This session will focus on Kriti’s journey as an actor and first-time producer, highlighting the growing impact of women in filmmaking. Kriti’s latest film, Do Patti, marks her debut as a producer and has been trending in the Netflix Global Top 10 (Non-English films) for four consecutive weeks.

Netflix’s commitment to skilling and talent development is being showcased at IFFI through its interactive initiatives designed to foster inclusivity and accessibility. Among them is the Voicebox Initiative which is launched in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), The Voicebox Program offers to train to voiceover artists from underrepresented communities. 50% of the participants of the program are women. This program is part of the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, a dedicated effort to create opportunities for underrepresented communities in entertainment. IFFI will host the culmination ceremony for this initiative, celebrating its achievements and contributions to multilingual storytelling.

Along with that, on November 23, Mahima Kaul, Director of Public Policy, Netflix India participated in a discussion along with representatives from MIB and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at the Film Bazaar. The panel titled “From Script to Screen: Navigating the Future Skill Sets of Filmmaking in a Digital Era”, explores the evolving skill sets required in the digital age, highlighting the impact of the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, and setting the stage for future skilling initiatives led by Netflix.

In collaboration with Kommune, Netflix has also set up a live dubbing booth at Film Bazaar’s tech pavilion from November 20 to November 24. The booth is allowing participants to try dubbing Netflix titles live, offering them a glimpse into the world of film production. The feature allows dubbing in multiple languages to make entertainment accessible to all corners of the country.

Between November 20 and 27, Netflix is highlighting its tools for creating a safe and engaging environment for young viewers by setting up a Parental Controls Booth at Inox, Panjim. In collaboration with Social Media & Matters, Netflix is giving parents an opportunity to learn to safeguard their children’s digital experiences effectively, while engaging in interactive activities and discussions.

In addition, Netflix celebrated its enriching lineup of kids’ programming with the launch of a new season of the animated series Krish, Trish, & Baltiboy Bharat Hain Hum on November 21. A Central Bureau of Communication, MIB and Graphiti Studios.stuidos co-production, the series is centered on India’s quest for freedom and its unsung heroes.

Netflix also screened one episode of another animated wonder, Mighty Little Bheem: I Love Taj Mahal, on November 23. This enriching episode highlights Netflix’s dedication to delivering engaging, culturally rich programming that resonates with children and families across India.
