Hardik Pandya will turn up to play the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s domestic T20 tournament, under brother Krunal Pandya’s captaincy. Hardik will bolster the Baroda squad as they look to do one better than runner-up finish from last year’s edition. The domestic competition will get underway on 23 November.
Baroda are placed in Group B alongside Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Saurashtra, Karnataka and Sikkim.
Under Krunal Pandya’s captaincy, Baroda have made a positive start to domestic cricket season. Featuring in Group A of the Elite Division, Baroda top the standings after five rounds of matches with four wins and a loss to collect 27 points and a win quotient of 1.771. They have posted wins against Mumbai, Services, Odisha and Meghalaya while drawing with Tripura.
Hardik last played for the Indian cricket team in South Africa where the Suryakumar Yadav-led side triumphed 3-1 in the four-match T20I series. During the series, Pandya had modest returns of 59 runs and two wickets.
