All eyes are set on the 2024 Davis Cup Finals where Spanish legend Rafael Nadal is expected to play the last match of his career. The 22-time Grand Slam winner earlier revealed that he would bid adieu to the professional circuit after featuring in the prestigious competition, also known as the World Cup of Tennis. His Spanish teammates – Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers – will hope to give Nadal a memorable farewell by winning the Davis Cup title on home soil.
Spain last won the multi-nation tennis tournament in 2019. This year, the Spanish side will be led by non-playing captain David Ferrer who reached the final of the 2013 French Open. The Davis Cup Finals which starts with the quarter-finals is set to get underway on November 19 in Malaga.
In their last-eight match, Spain will face the Netherlands who have some top players like Wesley Koolhof and Tallon Griekspoor. The winners of this match will take on Germany or Canada in the semi-final, scheduled for November 22.
In the other quarter-finals, world No. 1 Jannik Sinner’s Italy will meet Argentina while reigning champions USA are set to clash against Australia. Both these matches will be played on November 21. The final of the 2024 Davis Cup is scheduled for Sunday, November 24. Unicaja Malaga’s home – Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena – will be hosting all matches of the tournament.
