Rahul Rai is one such candidate, who dared to abandon his engineering studies in the middle of his studies in order to pursue his passion. He left IIT Bombay in 2015 to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Economics at the Wharton School in America. Rahul began working at Morgan Stanley in 2019 after graduating. He became an analyst for the Foreign Exchange (FX) Macro Hedge Funds there. However, he resigned from his position in 2020, made a new resolution, and made the decision to go back to India. The use of cryptocurrencies was growing in popularity in India at the time Rahul returned. He became more interested in blockchain technology and digital assets. He saw potential in this area and conducted a great deal of research in it.
In January 2021, Gamma Point Capital was established. Rahul, his buddies Ish Aggarwal and Sanat Rao, co-founded Gamma Point Capital. The purpose of this cryptocurrency hedge fund is to invest in digital assets. The business immediately became well-known and had a significant position in the cryptocurrency sector as a result of Rahul’s vision.
Major players in the cryptocurrency field took notice of Gamma Point Capital’s achievement. BlockTower Capital paid Rs 286 crore (USD 35 million) to acquire the business in May 2021. Rahul and his group believed that by making this choice, they would achieve financial success that would match years of arduous labour. Rahul Rai is currently employed with BlockTower Capital as the Co-Head of Market-Neutral. The company runs a multi-strategy hedge fund that makes investments in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency wealth.
