In 2021, she got an AIR 3 in her second UPSC attempt.

Gamini Singla, originally from Anandpur Sahib in Punjab, grew up in a family with a strong emphasis on education. Her father, Alok Singla, serves as a medical officer in Himachal Pradesh, and her mother, Neerja Singla, is also a medical officer. Her brother, Tushar Singla, graduated from IIT Kharagpur, fostering a supportive learning environment at home. Gamini began her schooling at Mount Carmel School in Punjab before pursuing a BTech in Computer Science from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. During her college years, she was actively involved in student organisations and even served as a class representative.

After completing her BTech, Gamini began working at the multinational company JP Morgan. The internship was part of her college curriculum, and JP Morgan had offered her a job post-completion of the internship, but Gamini chose to turn it down for her dream was to become an IAS officer. Though her career was progressing well, she held a longstanding ambition to join the civil services. Driven by this goal, she left her job to start preparing for the UPSC exam. Her first attempt ended in disappointment as she could not clear the exam. Refusing to be discouraged, she analysed her mistakes and dedicated herself to improving. Her hard work paid off in 2021 when she took the exam again, securing an impressive All-India Rank 3, ultimately achieving her dream of becoming an IAS officer. Her father was instrumental in her journey, offering continuous motivation and emotional support as she prepared. Throughout this period, Gamini committed herself to a rigorous study routine, dedicating 9 to 10 hours each day. She adhered to a structured study plan that helped her stay focused and fully dedicated to her goal.

Following her success, Gamini underwent training at the IAS Academy in Mussoorie. She was then appointed to the Uttar Pradesh cadre and, as of August 30, 2024, currently serves as the Joint Magistrate in Sultanpur, UP. Her inspiring story reflects the power of perseverance and the rewards of dedication.
