It has happened indeed! Singham Again was always poised to take a very good start at the box office. The coming together of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty all over again in the Singham franchise was as it is huge indeed. Together, they had delivered their biggest opening ever with their last outing together, Singham Returns (Rs. 32 crores). With the cop universe further getting expanded and an array of stars joining forces, Singham Again further turned bigger.
Moreover, there were other factors coming in handy as well. They chose Diwali as the time of arrival and that was a masterstroke, considering the Ramayana theme. Also, even though there was a clash set up with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, they went all out to ensure that they got a bigger share of the pie when it came to screens and shows distribution. Yes, it led to a lot of tension right till the time of release as first the resolution by itself took a lot of time and then there was a lot of negativity that came in as well for both the films with social media going berserk.
However, all of this only ended up adding to the hype around the film, so much so that beyond the Rs. 40 crores opening that was anyways expected on Friday, the end result turned out to be even better. A huge Rs. 43.70 crores has come for the film and that’s the highest ever number ever for a film, which has taken a lead on the clash, hence surpassing Gadar 2 (Rs. 40.10 crores). In fact, this also pretty much establishes that had Singham Again arrived solo, it would have comfortably crossed the Rs. 50 crores mark.
Nonetheless, this has been a great start for the film and with reports being good, it’s a major success in the making as Rs. 200 crores mark will be crossed in a jiffy.
