The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)Calcutta has concluded its summer internship placements for the 2024 academic year. It has achieved a 100 per cent placement rate for its flagship MBA program. As of October 25, the institute secured 564 offers for 475 students.

According to IIM Calcutta, the average monthly stipend this year was Rs 1.89 lakh per month, while the median stipend stood at Rs 2 lakh, both new records for the institute.

The highest domestic stipend this year was Rs 3.67 lakh per month and Rs 6.75 lakh per month at the international level. The top 5 per cent of students have received an average monthly stipend of around Rs 3 lakh per month, highlighting the high demand for IIM Calcutta graduates in the competitive job market. However, This year’s placement process was conducted in hybrid mode, in which more than 175 recruiters from various sectors participated. During this, opportunities have been provided for various cross-functional roles.

Companies from all major sectors such as FMCG, manufacturing, finance, consultancy, technology, analytics, pharmaceuticals, and education participated in the recruitment process. The institute’s cluster-cohort approach, along with special provisions like the Dream Offer has improved the matching of students with recruiters, making the process mutually beneficial for both sides.

According to media reports, Professor Ritu Mehta, the head of the placement process, mentioned the result of the Summer Internship demonstrates the student’s readiness to survive in a highly challenging atmosphere. Despite a global decline in job demand, the recruiters trusted the students and their educational practices. They are deeply grateful for that and as the institute continues to strengthen ties with industry leaders, the future looks bright for its graduates.
