Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced an expansion of its previous recall campaign to preventively replace the fuel pump. This time, the recall affects 90,468 units of the Amaze compact sedan, Brio hatchback, BR-V MPV, City midsize sedan, Jazz premium hatchback and the WR-V high-riding hatch, produced from September 2017 to June 2018.

The previous recall campaign to replace the fuel pumps with defective impellers took place in June 2020, and affected 65,651 models. This time, in addition to the 90,468 units affected, the recall also covers 2,204 additional units of the Accord sedan, Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Civic executive sedan, Jazz, and WR-V where fuel pumps were replaced as spare parts in the past. As before, the fuel pumps with defective impellers could, over time, result in the engine stopping or not starting.

Customers will be able to check if their vehicle is included in this recall by entering their cars’ 17-character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on a microsite, on Honda Car India’s website. Those who had the fuel pump used as a spare from an authorised Honda dealership between June 2017 and October 2023 can also verify their vehicle status through any Honda showroom.

Honda will conduct the replacements free of charge at authorised dealerships across India, starting November 5. The Japanese brand says that affected vehicle owners will be contacted individually.
