MG ES5: design highlights
The SUV gets a stylish front end, with some design cues including the bumper and headlamp shape similar to the newer MG models such as the Cyberster and the MG 4 hatchback.
The MG ES5 is based on a new EV platform called Nebula, developed especially by its parent brand, SAIC. This platform can support vehicles with a wheelbase of up to 3,100mm and batteries of up to 2 metres in length. It can also support future models equipped with solid-state batteries, electrical architecture, and autonomous driving.
The MG ES electric SUV is 4.4-metre-long, 1.8-metre-wide, and 1.6-metre-high. It gets a wheelbase of 2,730 mm, which is longer than the ZS EV’s 2,585mm.
The SUV has a single-motor rear-wheel drive setup, with an output of 167hp of power and 250 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 170kph and does 0-100 in 8 seconds.
MG Motor will introduce this SUV overseas with three different battery sizes. While more details on the battery capacity are not out yet, the brand has said the ranges will be 425km, 515km, and 525km, respectively.
