Several Indian athletes expressed their heartfelt condolences after it was announced that the visionary industrialist and philanthropist, Ratan Naval Tata had passed away just before midnight yesterday.

The official account of the Tata Group on X (formerly known as Twitter) released a statement by N Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of Tata Sons confirming the news of his passing at 11:56 PM, last night.

“It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation,” the statement began.

India’s bronze-medallist at the London 2012 shooting event, Gagan Narang expressed how Ratan Tata’s legacy will be remembered as one that went beyond profits as he went on to impact countless lives.

Another bronze-medalist at the London 2012 Olympics, freestyle wrestler, Yogeshwar Dutt also expressed his heartfelt condolences after hearing about the news.

India’s ace javelin star, Neeraj Chopra recalled one of his memories with the late Ratan Tata and expressed his condolences to the Tata family for their loss.

The official account of the Indian Super League club, NorthEast United FC also expressed their condolences to the Tata family. It is also to be noted that Tata Steel owns Jamshedpur FC.

The Indian bronze medal-winner, freestyle wrestler and now politician, Bajrang Punia also took to social media to express his sadness to hear the news of Ratan Tata’s passing. “He dedicated his entire life to the development of the country. Respected Shri Ratan Tata ji will always remain in the hearts of Indians,” said Punia.
