As we all know, nothing is impossible, and with the right determination and passion, anything can be achieved. This has been proven once again by 20-year-old Chitra Kumari from Bihar.

Chitra Kumari from Buxar City, has successfully cracked the BPSC on her first attempt without any traditional coaching methods and has now become the Deputy Superintendent of Police at Rajgir Police Academy.

Chitra comes from a modest family where her father, Suresh Prasad Malakar, supports the family through farming. Although he once worked in a bank, he lost his job in 2008. At that time, with three children, including Chitra, the family faced severe financial hardships, making it difficult to cover educational expenses. Due to this crisis, he was forced to sell two katthas of land in Sohnipatti. The money he earned was deposited in a bank, and the interest from it helped cover the family’s expenses, allowing him to enrol his daughter and two sons in a government school.

Chitra’s mother, Rachna Devi, also played a crucial role in her children’s education. A homemaker who had studied up to matriculation, Rachna made sure her children followed a strict study routine and stayed away from mobile phones. Chitra’s elder brother, Larvin Kumar, also succeeded in the BPSC and was preparing for the Civil Services. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to return from Delhi, but the study materials he received there aided his preparation.

The family had only one laptop, which was shared between the three siblings. Aware of their financial limitations, the children decided to prepare for the BPSC from home. They also enrolled in online courses and put in relentless effort to reach their goals. Chitra credits her success entirely to her mother. Chitra Kumari is a role model for many young individuals from underprivileged backgrounds who aspire to achieve success in the future.
