IPS Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande led an operation to crush the illegal stone crusher units in Rohtas.
Bihar’s Super Cop and IPS officer Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande, who is known for cracking the cases related to the Antila bomb scare and the subsequent murder of Thane’s automobile accessories dealer Mansukh Hiran in Mumbai, resigned on Thursday, September 19. He informed people about his resignation through a Facebook post. Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande, originally from Maharashtra, was born in Akola district of Vidarbha on August 29, 1976. He hails from a farmer’s family. He completed his early education at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Akola. After this, he graduated in Electrical Engineering from Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering. Despite the engineering degree, Shivdeep was attracted towards civil services.
Before becoming an IPS, Shivdeep Lande cracked UPSC and became an IRS officer in the Revenue Department. While holding the IRS post, he cracked UPSC again in the year 2006 and this time grabbed the post of Indian Police Service officer. His career as a police officer started in Jamalpur, a Naxal-affected area of the Munger district of Bihar.
Shivdeep Lande handled many high-profile cases in his police career. One of the actions taken against the mining mafia garnered headlines in 2015-16. While being the SP of Rohtas, he took action against the mining mafia with a JCB. More than 30 rounds of firing took place in this campaign involving a suspected attack by the mining mafia. During an operation under his leadership to crush the illegal stone crushers in Rohtas, it was the first time that 100-stone crusher units had been demolished in a single day; 500 people were arrested in the action.
IPS Shivdeep Lande has been a police officer of the Bihar cadre. He has also served in the Maharashtra Police. When he was posted as SP of STF in Bihar, he was sent to the Maharashtra cadre on deputation for five years. By the time he returned to Bihar, he had reached the post of DIG in the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad. He returned to Bihar and joined as the deputy inspector general of Kosi range in 2022.
While speaking to reporters after tendering his resignation, Lande said, “I have resigned from IPS because of some personal reasons. I will remain in Bihar and continue to work for the people.”
