Hyundai Alcazar price, facelift, launch details, design, features

The Alcazar facelift will make use of the same turbo-petrol and diesel powertrains.

Hyundai has revealed the Alcazar facelift, all set to go on sale on September 9. In typical Hyundai fashion, the updated three-row SUV gets substantial updates inside-out, and not just a nip and tuck job. Let’s take a closer look at how the Alcazar facelift has evolved over its predecessor in terms of styling, features, powertrain options and price.

Hyundai Alcazar design: new vs old

Over the outgoing model, the Alcazar facelift gets H-shaped LED DRLs that are connected together with a light bar, and a larger grille with horizontal slats. It also now gets quad-beam LED headlamps as opposed to the trio-beam units seen on the pre-facelift version.

At the rear, the SUV is equipped with new full-width tail lamps that look similar to what we’ve seen on the Venue, with a large H motif. The new lights at the front and rear along with the new bumpers give it a more squared-off look as compared to its predecessor. It also gets a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels, along with functional roof rails.

On the inside, the Alcazar facelift carries over the same dashboard layout as the Creta facelift that was launched earlier this year. The two 10.25-inch screens are now conjoined while the middle AC vents are now moved below the screen. The HVAC controls have also been updated, while the center tunnel features a metallic finish now. A dual-tone theme has been carried over, but instead of cognac brown and black, Hyundai is now using noble brown and haze navy for the Alcazar’s interior.

Both 6- and 7-seat configurations have been carried over, however, the fixed centre console that was placed between the captain seats on the pre-facelift model has now been removed. This frees up more space between the seats as they now get individual armrests, and one can easily walk through to the third row from the second.

New features on offer include ADAS Level 2, cooled rear seats, a wireless charger for the second-row, 8-way powered co-driver’s seat, extendable thigh support for middle seats and larger second-row headrests with adjustable extensions

Hyundai Alcazar powertrains: new vs old

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options from the outgoing Alcazar will be retained on the facelift. The petrol engine churns out 160hp and 253Nm of torque and can be had with either a 6-speed MT or an optional 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel unit makes 116hp and 250Nm and is paired with a 6MT or a 6AT gearbox. Both get a front-wheel drive configuration.

Hyundai Alcazar price: new vs old

The pre-facelift Alcazar is priced between Rs 16.78 lakh and Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom). Pricing for the facelifted model will be revealed on September 9, and keeping in mind all the aforementioned changes, we expect a marginal price hike. It will be available in four trim levels, namely, with a new entry-level ‘Executive’ joining the lineup of Prestige, Platinum and Signature.
