Kia’s upcoming compact SUV has been spied on test yet again, revealing some interesting interior design details this time around. Likely to be called ‘Syros’ according to a patent filed by the brand, the SUV will be slotted between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia India’s lineup.
- Kia Syros to get additional features over Sonet
- To be available with petrol, electric powertrains
Kia Syros spy shots: interior design
The latest spy shots reveal that the Syros will be equipped with a brand-new two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel. This steering wheel design hasn’t been seen on any Kia car in India, but is inspired from the K4 sedan that made its global debut earlier this year, along with other newer Kia models abroad. It will feature an offset Kia emblem.
The interior shot also reveals its dual displays, similar to what is offered with the Seltos. It will likely include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, conjoined with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. However, the car also gets a few physical buttons placed right below the touchscreen including a scroll wheel to adjust the volume.
Kia Syros: features, powertrains
Previous spy shots have confirmed that the Syros will get a panoramic sunroof, roof rails, all-LED lighting along with vertically-positioned LED DRLs. It will also likely be equipped with diamond-cut alloy wheels, ventilated and powered front seats, drive modes, traction modes, a climate control system, leatherette upholstery and a Bose audio system among other kit.
As we’ve reported earlier, the Syros will have both petrol and electric powertrains, with the latter expected to join the line-up about six months after the ICE. Both versions will be underpinned by the same platform and a hybrid version could also be introduced at a later stage, however, all versions will be front-wheel drive only.
Kia Syros: launch, expected price
The Kia Syros petrol will make its debut towards the end of this year, and it will go on sale early next year; the Syros EV is expected to launch by mid-2025. Expect a slight premium over the Sonet, which is currently priced from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.
