The CCI announced in a statement on July 23 that it has approved the “proposed combination involving, inter alia, Amazon Asia-Pacific Holdings, Frontizo Business Services, Appario Retail, Haverl LLC, and Clicktech Retail,” ET Tech reported. Appario Retail is the largest seller on the Amazon India platform and Clicktech is also one of its largest scale sellers.

Appario Retail was the last seller on Amazon India in which Amazon itself held a stake. The business had faced criticism from smaller sellers and certain traders’ bodies for holding a stake in the business. In October 2022, Amazon India announced that it will address the situation in line with Indian e-commerce regulations.

Promoted by the Vinod Poddar Group, Clicktech will fully acquire Appario Retail. At the same time, Amazon India will acquire Appario Retail’s parent company Frontizo Business Services from joint venture partner Patni Group and Frontizo Business Services will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon India.

Clicktech Retail’s store on Amazon India retails a wide array of product categories including fashion, watches, beauty goods, accessories, and electronics among others, according to its storefront on the marketplace. Searching for Appario Retail products on Amazon India yields over 80,000 results.
