NEW DELHI: Indian pace veteran Mohammed Shami is diligently working towards his return to international cricket. In a recent social media post, he shared an image of himself training intensely in the nets, accompanied by a caption that clearly conveyed his determination to make a strong comeback and his desire to make a significant impact for the Indian team.
“Ball in hand and obsession in my heart, ready to turn the game.#shami #mdshami #mdshami11,” Shami posted on his social media.

Shami’s most recent competitive match was in November, when he represented India in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad, which unfortunately ended in a loss for India.
However, Shami had an exceptional tournament, leaving fans and cricket experts in awe of his pace and swing. He claimed an impressive 24 wickets in just seven matches, maintaining an average of 10.70 and an economy rate of 5.26.
His standout performances included a four-wicket haul and three five-wicket hauls, with his best figures being 7/57 against New Zealand in the semifinal.
Despite playing through pain during the tournament, Shami refused to let it hinder his performance. Following the World Cup, he was absent from the South Africa tour and the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January.
In February, Shami underwent a successful recovery process for an Achilles tendon injury, which led to him missing the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA, where India emerged victorious by defeating South Africa in the final.
With an impressive tally of 448 wickets in 188 international matches, including 11 five-wicket hauls, Shami is widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers of the modern era.
