Radhika Merchant, the radiant bride, stunned in a custom-made ensemble designed by the ace couturier duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the wedding ceremony. Drawing inspiration from the rich Gujarati heritage, her wedding attire embodied the essence of the ‘Panetar’ tradition, where brides adorn red and white.

Styled by Rhea Kapoor, Shereen and Sanya Kapoor, the ivory Zardozi cut-work masterpiece comprised a trailing ghagra layered with a detachable trail of unparalleled grandeur. A five-meter head veil flowed gracefully, complementing a tissue shoulder dupatta. The ghagra, a dazzling display of craftsmanship, boasted three borders of vibrant red. The intricate embroidery, meticulously handcrafted using Naqshi, Saadi, and Zardozi techniques, presented a symphony of floral designs. Lavishly embellished with stones, sequins, and a touch of red Resham, the ghagra exuded unmatched opulence.

The head veil, a marvel of delicate jaali and cut-work, added a touch of ethereal beauty, while the detachable trail, a testament to meticulous Zardozi artistry, spanned an impressive 80 inches. Completing the look was a fully embroidered red shoulder dupatta, its dramatic flair amplifying the bride’s silhouette. Staying true to tradition, Radhika’s wedding ensemble incorporated heirloom jewellery – precious pieces worn by her grandmother, mother, and sister on their wedding days.

For the vidai ceremony, a poignant ritual marking the bride’s departure from her home, Radhika opted for a stunning creation by Manish Malhotra. This exquisite ensemble embodied the rich textile heritage of Kutch, Gujarat. The blouse, a masterpiece of real gold karchobi work, drew inspiration from the traditional abho. This exquisite embroidery technique echoed the artistry of the late 19th century, adding a touch of timeless elegance.

The blouse was paired with a multi-panelled Banarasi brocade lehenga in warm sunset hues, a mesmerizing tribute to India’s enduring sartorial heritage. A delicately latticed red veil and a Banarasi woven dupatta further accentuated the ensemble’s grace and charm.

The wedding festivities were undoubtedly a star-studded affair, with celebrities and dignitaries from across the globe in attendance.
