The company attributes sales decline to supply-chain constraints.
Audi India has retailed 1,431 cars and SUVs in Q2 of 2024, posting a growth of 37 percent as compared to Q1 of 2024. However, sales have dropped 6 percent compared to the same period last year (April-June 2023), which Audi attributes to challenges in the supply chain.
- Audi sales affected by supply chain constraints in Q2, 2024
- Pre-owned car business grew 33 percent in Q2, 2024
The German carmaker, however, hasn’t provided a sales split of its models or stated which was its best-selling model. The brand had retailed 1,046 units in Q1 2024, which means Audi’s half-yearly sales stands at 2,477 units. This number is significantly off its chief rivals, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Having said that, Audi was troubled with supply related issues even in Q1 2024.
Mr. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India said, “While the supply situation in Q2 2024 has improved compared to Q1 2024; it still played a limiting factor on our sales performance. We are confident that our supplies will normalize during the second half of this year, and we will be able to better serve customer demand. It is important to emphasize that demand remains strong across our vast product portfolio.”
Audi further stated that its pre-owned car business grew by 33 percent in the period April-June 2024 compared to the same period last year; the growth was 11 percent compared to Q1 2024. The company, which has 27 Audi plus approved facilities, has plans to add three more this year.
