After winning both races at Assen, Bagnaia now trails Martin by just 10 points in the 2024 MotoGP championship.
Francesco Bagnaia replicated his Italian GP success by dominating both the Sprint and feature-length race at the Dutch MotoGP weekend. Jorge Martin, world championship standings leader and 2025 Aprilia factory rider, finished second, while Bagnaia’s teammate Enea Bastianini, who will move to Tech3 KTM next season, took third place.

Dutch GP podium battle
Launching from pole, the reigning world champion Bagnaia took the lead and remained in control of the race right from the first corner. This was Bagnaia’s 23rd victory with Ducati, equalling the record of two-time MotoGP champion Casey Stoner as the most successful Ducati rider.
Title rival Jorge Martin came close quite a few times but couldn’t catch Bagnaia. Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales held third place for much of the race until a stunning last-lap overtake by Enea Bastianini, the factory Ducati rider, secured the final spot on the podium.
The fight for third place involved riders incuding Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Maverick Vinales, Enea Bastianini and rookie sensation Pedro Acosta. Unfortunately, the GASGAS rider suffered a fall on the last lap.
2024 MotoGP championship standings
With this dominant weekend, Francesco Bagnaia is just 10 points behind the standings leader Jorge Martin. Third in the standings is 8-time World Champion and 2025 Ducati factory rider Marc Marquez. MotoGP will return next weekend for the German GP at the Sachsenring.
