Police Recruitment Drive: 300 engineers among 30k applicants for 347 constable posts | Nagpur News


Nagpur: Cornered by the bleak job scenario, around 300 engineers and another 1,300 post-graduates were among the 30,000 applications who had applied for the post of 347 constables in the city police’s recruitment drive which is set to kick start from June 19 for the year 2022-23 phase. In addition, the city police are also set to conduct recruitment for 255 jail personnel.
A three-tiered biometric and extensive CCTV surveillance along with prompt updation of the city police website with the phase-wise results of physical and other tests would be the key features of the police recruitment drive to make it a fool-proof transparent system.

CP Ravinder Singal also stated that complaints against any irregularities and malpractices can be reported to the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and city police’s special recruitment drive cell. Apart from 39,600 males, 15,600 females and five transgenders are among those who submitted their applications.
While the city police’s recruitment drive is scheduled between June 19 and July 9, a similar exercise for jail personnel would take place between July 11 and August 16, informed Singal.
“While JT CP Aswati Dorje will head the city police recruitment drive, Addl CP crime Sanjay Patil will oversee the jail section of the recruitment,” said the top cop, adding, there is a considerable increase in the number of educated aspirants participating in the recruitment drive.
“DCP headquarters (Ashwini Patil) will play the role of co-ordinating the recruitment exercises,” he said.
Singal, who was flanked by Dorje and other senior officials, also informed that more than 250 CCTV cameras will be installed for surveillance. “The physical tests would commence at 5am. Doctors, ambulances, paramedics and first aid will be available at the venue for assistance. The police hospital will also be ready for any emergency,” said the CP, adding, two officers of the rank of deputy commissioner of police, three ACPs and 46 inspectors and asst PIs have been deployed for the recruitment exercise.
Dorje said that there will be a three-tiered biometric surveillance before the physical, written and the interview phases. “Last year, we had some fake documents related cases which were promptly reported and offences were registered. We are issuing strict warning against any types of malpractices by the candidates,” she said.
In rural, around 14,274 applicants have applied for around 129 posts of constables.
