Yasawa Island Resort & Spa, one of Fiji‘s premier independently owned and operated luxury resorts, has announced the successful completion of a million-dollar renovation project, overseen by Director and Owner James McCann. The extensive six-month renovation, scheduled to wrap up this month, has transformed the resort’s public spaces and bungalows, situated on a sprawling 7,000-acre property.
The secluded resort, boasting only 18 spacious bungalows and surrounded by a small Fijian village, is a 30-minute private air transfer away from Nadi International Airport. The recent renovation has brought about stunning improvements to both the exterior and interior of the villas, providing guests with an enhanced experience of luxury and comfort.
Interior Design Consultant Erin McCann shared her enthusiasm about the renovation, stating, “Our Fijian family is thrilled to unveil our newly renovated resort to both new and returning guests in 2024 and beyond. The renovation is a testament to our commitment to blending style with sustainability.”
As part of its sustainability efforts, the resort is in the process of obtaining EarthCheck certification, which recognizes hotels and resorts for their social corporate responsibility and ecological sustainability. Erin McCann highlighted the significance of this certification, emphasising the resort’s dedication to caring for its surroundings and enhancing overall sustainability practices.
The renovation focused on retaining the resort’s authentic Fijian design while incorporating natural elements and sustainable materials. Notable highlights of the renovation include a newly refurbished main complex featuring a natural stone fountain and indigenous granite elements, enhancing the entrance driveway and lobby area.
Inside, guests will find sleek teak furniture complemented by decorative hanging lights made of straw and rattan in the restaurant and bar areas. Energy-efficient lighting has been integrated throughout the resort, contributing to its eco-friendly initiatives.Accommodations have been upgraded with locally sourced cinnamon wood pergolas, Fijian Vesi hardwood decks, and grass thatched roofs, showcasing the resort’s commitment to using native materials. Guest rooms feature large ceramic tile flooring, elegant teak wood furnishings, and pendant-style lighting crafted with rattan.
The completion of this million-dollar renovation marks a new chapter for Yasawa Island Resort & Spa, solidifying its position as a top luxury destination in Fiji that combines style, sustainability, and authentic Fijian hospitality.
