I am hunting for several options to include milk in my lil one’s diet and this is one powder which I make often. It is tasty, healthy and homemade which is great for kids and toddlers. For sweetness I added palm candy in this, you can use sugar as well. But this is the healthy option.
About Badam Milk Powder (Badam Drink Mix)
Instant badam mix is also known as badam drink mix, almond milk powder, badam mix or badam milk powder. Delicious badam milk can be made in an instant using this mix. You have to mix boiling hot milk or cold milk to this and enjoy.
Badam milk powder mix is made using roasted blanched almonds, sugar, saffron, cardamom. I used palm candy also known as panangkarkandu in this recipe. But you can use regular sugar or palm sugar too. A pinch of turmeric in this mix helps with the healing benefits.

Badam Milk Powder Ingredients
Almonds / Badam – use good quality almonds in this recipe. Soak almonds in hot water for few hours to remove the skins or you can boil it for few minutes and then peel off skin. Instead of doing these steps, you can use ready made almond flour.
Sugar – You can use regular white sugar in this recipe. Or you can use palm candy or sugar candy for healthy option.
Saffron – one of the most essential ingredient in badam milk is saffron. Use the finest quality saffron.
Cardamom – some people don’t prefer cardamom flavour. In that case, you can skip adding cardamom.
Turmeric Powder – Even though this is optional, you can add turmeric to the mix. It adds colour and has much health benefits.
For Making Badam Milk
Badam milk powder – you can use as much powder as possible. The more mix you add into the badam milk the more thick and tasty it gets.
Whole Milk – I like to use whole milk in this recipe. Full fat milk makes the drink more creamy and delicious. For vegan option you can use nut milk like almond milk, soy milk.
Nowadays you can easily find many brands of packaged badam milk which taste so watery. It has mainly artificial badam flavours added instead of the real stuff.
You can also find many badam milk premix available in the market. Store-bought premix has loads of sugar added. One of the most popular brand is MTR. It is made with badam, sugar, cardamom and saffron which is ground into powder. Many people prefer to buy premix because of the convenience. You just mix with hot milk and consume. If that is your case, you can easily make it at home with natural ingredients.
Badam milk is high in protein which makes a great after school snack to kids too. Once you make badam milk at home, you will never go back to store bought or premix. Homemade badam milk taste so pure, rich, thick and creamy without any additives added. Once you take the first sip, you will see the difference. How to Make Badam Milk Powder (Stepwise Pictures)
Blanched Almonds
1)Take badam or almonds in a sauce pan. Use finest quality almonds for this recipe which makes this drink taste amazing.
2)Add in water over the almonds.
3)Place the sauce pan on heat. Bring this to a boil.
4)One the badam comes to a full boil. Remove the almonds from heat and set aside for 15 minutes.
5)Peel off the skins from almonds. You can peel the skins easily this way. If you want to peel the almond skins in bulk.
Take the almonds in a clean kitchen towel. Rub it well to remove the skins easily.
6)Almonds is peeled completely.
7)Discard the peels from the almonds. Reserve the blanched almonds.
Roasted Almonds
8)Take the blanched almonds in a kitchen towel or paper towel. Dry it completely.
9)Now transfer the almonds in a baking tray. Preheat oven to 160 degree C. Now place the almonds in side the oven and roast it for 15 mins.
10)Now the almonds are toasted completely. Remove the almonds from oven and cool completely for 30 minutes.
Grinding Badam Powder
11)Take saffron and cardamom pods in a blender.
12)Add in palm candy over the saffron. I used panangkarkandu in this recipe.
13)Powder the candy with saffron and cardamom. Add in turmeric powder, this is optional. You can skip it if you want.
14)Powder again till it is combined.
15)Now take the roasted almonds in the same blender. Powder again till fine. Don’t over grind once almonds is added, else the badam will leave so much oil into the mixture.
16)This is the texture you are looking for.
17)Spread the badam powder in a plate and allow them to cool for 5 minutes.
18)Store the powdered badam mix in a clean bottle.
Making Badam Drink with Instant Badam mix
19)For making badam milk. take 2 tbsp of mix in a serving cup.
20)Pour 1 cup of hot milk over the badam drink powder. You can use any nuts milk like almond milk, soy milk for vegan option.
21)Mix well and serve hot.
22)Serve immediately.
