“This is to notify for information of all concerned that the University in its all Bhavanas/ Vibhagas/ Departments/ Administrative Offices/ Sections etc.other than those offices rendering emergency services will remain closed for half day till 2:30 pm on 22nd January, 2024 for celebration of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya as per the communication made by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training, Govt. of India vide its O.M. F. No. 12/7/2023-JCA dated 18th January, 2024,” reads the official notification.
On Friday, Sukanta Majumdar, the leader of the BJP in West Bengal, sent a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, urging her to declare a day off on Monday for the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Sharing a copy of the letter on X (formerly Twitter), Majumdar wrote, “I have requested our Hon’ble CM @MamataOfficial (Mamata Banerjee) to kindly consider declaring 22nd January 2024 to be a school holiday, so that the youth of West Bengal gets to rejoice in the Ram Mandir consecration celebrations.”
Many states, including Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh, have already announced that January 22, 2024, will be a public holiday for the ‘Pran Prathistha’ ceremony in Ayodhya.

Visva-Bharati was founded by the first non-European Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Thākur (popularly known as Tagore) in 1921.
