Air India has initiated the rollout of its refreshed global brand identity, revealing a contemporary look that reflects the airline’s commitment to providing a modern, seamless, and world-class travel experience. The rollout commenced with a complete transition to the new brand identity across digital channels, including the official website, mobile app, and social media platforms. Additionally, the rebranding process has begun at Delhi and Mumbai airports, with plans for a swift extension to other airports in the coming weeks.
The new brand identity, introduced in August 2023, centers around the ‘Vista,’ Air India’s logo icon symbolizing limitless possibilities and progressiveness. The vibrant color palette includes Air India red, aubergine, rose gold, and accents of gold, complemented by custom iconography and a unique font, Air India Sans. Crafted to project a bold and modern image, the design encapsulates the essence of a world-class airline with an Indian heart.
Redesigned Website and Mobile App: Air India’s official website, airindia.com, and its mobile app have undergone a comprehensive transformation. Designed by Air India teams in Kochi and Silicon Valley, the revamped platforms offer a more seamless and intuitive online experience, featuring streamlined booking processes, enhanced performance, new features, and a refreshed design aligned with the new brand identity.
Social Media Transformation: Air India’s social media platforms now reflect the updated brand identity, providing engaging content and an interactive space for passengers to connect with the airline and fellow travelers.
Airport Rebranding: tarting at Delhi and Mumbai airports, the new branding will be visible across various touchpoints, including check-in counters, boarding gates, lounges, and redesigned boarding cards. The phased rollout will extend to other airports in Air India’s global network.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Air India, expressed, “The network-wide switch to our new global brand identity is a landmark moment for Air India. It’s not just about bringing our new logo and colors to customer touchpoints; it’s a promise to our guests of a transforming travel experience that is modern, seamless, and infused with the warmth and hospitality that defines a new India and a new Air India.”
The new Air India livery will make its debut on the A350 fleet, with plans for adoption on other incoming aircraft. The in-flight rollout of the global brand identity aligns with the imminent induction of the Airbus A350 fleet and the subsequent refurbishment of cabin products in the months ahead.
“This is a transformation of great scale, and therefore, it may take us a while to achieve consistency in our product, service, and the overall ‘new Air India experience.’ We will continue to seek the support of our guests as we modernize Air India and make it a world-class airline that India deserves,” Wilson added.
Earlier this year, Air India made record-setting aircraft orders totaling 470 with Airbus and Boeing, marking a USD 70 billion investment. The introduction of the much-anticipated Airbus A350 fleet, scheduled for this month, will be followed by a USD 400 million project for refurbishing 43 of Air India’s legacy widebody aircraft. The refurbishment will include new seats in every cabin, updated inflight entertainment systems, and inflight Wi-Fi internet connectivity.
Last week, the airline unveiled new uniforms for cabin and cockpit crews, designed by renowned Indian couturier Manish Malhotra. The phased introduction of the new uniforms will commence with the entry of Air India’s first Airbus A350, with additional designs for ground staff, engineers, and security personnel to be revealed soon.
