NAGPUR: Congress leader Nana Patole on Monday criticized the Maharashtra government’s inability to lift the export ban on onions imposed by the Central government, and said that it only indicates it is trying to help their ‘friends’
“The decision is manipulative, anti-farmer and only helping a select friends of the government,” said Patole outside Vidhan Bhavan on Monday.
Speaking to media before his protest march over farm crisis, Patole said that the godowns of these friends are full and therefore the government is not worried about price rise. “When imports are done, they must tell how much it costs. People need to understand how country’s wealth is splurged on imports to benefit the friends of government,” he said.
The MLA said the BJP government doesn’t like if farmer get some extra amount for their produce.
“They are destroying farmers while helping their friends. An average 14 farmers are committing suicide in the state but the government is not worried. Government must come clean on all this. They will tell you mann ki baat but not jan ki baat,” he said.
