In a bid to entice global travellers to experience Australia through the eyes of locals, Tourism Australia has launched its annual travel list, titled “Australia Recommends: 15 Places to Come & Say G’day in 2024.” The compilation draws inspiration from Tourism Australia’s top-performing social media posts and is endorsed by well-known Australian personalities, including Rose Byrne, King Stingray, Magdalena Roze, Curtis Stone, and more.
Tourism Australia, with its vast social media reach of over 19 million followers worldwide, leverages the Australia Recommends list to provide insights into destinations that captivate the interest of global visitors. From immersing oneself in First Nations culture at Uluru to exploring the accessible wonders of the Blue Mountains or embarking on eco-tours in the Daintree Rainforest, the list promises a diverse range of experiences.
Collaborating with prominent Australian figures, many of whom are part of Tourism Australia’s Friends of Australia advocacy program, all 15 destinations on the list carry the stamp of approval from these renowned Aussies. Through personal anecdotes and memories shared by the celebrities, the list aims to present an authentic and ‘Aussie-approved’ collection of travel experiences.
Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India & Gulf, Tourism Australia, emphasised the significance of partnering with well-known Australians in curating the list. He stated, “No one knows a destination better than its locals. This is why travelers consider local recommendations as a sure way to have the most authentic experience of a place.” Kashikar expressed optimism that the Australia Recommends list, released just as Indians plan their travel goals for 2024, will inspire them to explore Australia and embrace the legendary Aussie way of life.
Roy Kellaway from King Stingray, the Yolŋu surf rock band from Arnhem Land, shared his excitement about being part of the launch. Reflecting on his memorable trip to Australia’s Red Centre, he highlighted Uluru as a must-see destination. “It just takes your breath away. It’s the heart of Australia, and offers the unique opportunity to hear stories and learn about culture from the local Anangu people,” said Kellaway.
“Australia Recommends: 15 Places to Come & Say G’day in 2024” will be available on Australia.com and will be shared with Tourism Australia’s global audience through its social media channels, further amplifying the allure of Australia as a must-visit destination.
