Just over a week ago we saw the release of the Anil Sharma directorial Gadar 2. In a resounding triumph for both Bollywood and the undying spirit of cinematic excellence the business of the film has been on an upward trend since its release. Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel the film has over the past week proved to be unstoppable at the box office. After fast blowing past the Rs. 100 cr and Rs. 200 cr mark, Gadar 2 has now made it across the Rs. 300 cr mark at the domestic box office in just 8 days of its release. With this, Sunny Deol has now emerged as the 12th actor to make an entry into the highly exclusive and coveted Rs. 300 Crore Club.
Collecting Rs. 305.13 cr in just 8 days, Gadar 2 has become the all-time second fastest Rs. 300 cr grosser coming in just behind the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan which had achieved this within 6 days of its release. Now, with Gadar 2 entering the Rs. 300 cr club, Sunny Deol joins the likes of Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Prabhas and Shah Rukh Khan who each have one release that has made it to this highly exclusive club. Besides these actors, Sunny will also be joining Salman Khan who has 3 releases, and Aamir Khan who has 2 releases that have made it past the Rs. 300 cr mark.
Currently, Gadar 2 continues its march at the box office, and is expected to see collections coming in with an increased rate of footfalls over its second weekend. In fact, trade predictions state that the business of the film could inch closer if not cross the Rs. 350 cr mark by the end of its second weekend.
