Nagpur: 19-year-old dies by suicide after mother scolds her for spending too much time on mobile | Nagpur News

NAGPUR: A 19-year-old college student, identified as Renuka Pramod Kale, allegedly died by suicide following a scolding from her mother regarding excessive mobile phone usage, according to an official statement on Wednesday.
Renuka was pursuing her first year of undergraduate studies and resided in the Zenda Chowk area in Nagpur city.
A police officer said that Renuka had experienced the loss of her father and was under the care of her mother, Seema, who managed a “daily needs” store.
Based on accounts from friends and neighbors, the officer disclosed that Renuka had exhibited academic excellence in the past. However, there had been a recent shift in her focus away from her studies, with a significant amount of time being spent on her mobile phone.
The incident occurred on a Monday afternoon when Renuka was engrossed with her mobile device. Her mother, Seema, admonished her for neglecting her studies, which reportedly prompted Renuka to retreat to their bedroom where she tragically took her own life by hanging. The discovery of Renuka’s lifeless body was made by Seema approximately an hour later.
Authorities from the Gittikhadan police have recorded the case as an accidental death, as stated by the official source.
