The University Grants Commission (UGC) has called upon all higher education institutions (HEIs) to hold special assemblies in honour of the Chandrayaan 3 lunar landing. The UGC’s directive encourages active participation from both students and faculty.
The UGC has mandated that these special gatherings take place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm on August 23, dedicated to broadcasting the historic landing of Chandrayaan 3.
Describing the impending landing as a momentous stride in the realms of Indian Science, Engineering, Technology and Industry, the Commission asserted, “The successful landing of India’s Chandrayaan 3 stands as a monumental achievement that is bound to arouse curiosity and ignite a fervor for exploration among our youth. This milestone is set to instill immense pride and a sense of unity as we collectively laud the accomplishments of Indian science and technology. Moreover, it will play a pivotal role in nurturing an environment conducive to scientific inquiry and innovation. The Honourable Prime Minister of India will also be part of this national celebration, witnessing this historic moment,” as per the UGC’s statement.
As disclosed by the Commission, the live coverage of the event will commence at 5:27 pm (IST) on August 23. The transmission can be accessed through various platforms, including the ISRO website, the official ISRO YouTube channel, the Facebook page of ISRO and the DD National TV channel.
