This is a net pancake that is a speciality of Malaysia. It is very easy to make. For making that you will need a squeeze bottle like the one which I showed in the pictures or else you can buy a mould that is specially designed for making this, it is available in all plastic shops. It will look something like this. I served this with chicken rendang.

About Roti Jala Recipe

Roti jala, jala roti, roti kirai, or roti renjis are popular Malay tea time snacks served with curry dishes in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. The roti jala is a lovely dish that, due to its construction, resembles a lace doily. This is a very traditional Malay dish that is usually made from scratch and served at special occasions such as weddings and festivals.

It is typically served in groups of three to four pieces with curries, particularly chicken curry, as a substitute for rice. Roti jala literally translates to net bread, referring to its intricate net design inspired by Malaysian fishermens nets.

Ingredients for Roti Jala

All purpose flour

All purpose flour or maida is used in this pancakes. It creates a light and soft texture in this bread.

Milk

Aside from flavour, the purpose of milk in a pancake recipe is to dissolve the flour and other ingredients and provide a liquid structure. You can use either coconut milk or regular milk in this recipe.

Turmeric Powder

Some recipes calls for food colouring but I like to use turmeric powder.

Eggs

Eggs are essential in this recipe which creates the texture and holds the bread.
