Unicorn price, new SP160 India launch

Unicorn price, new SP160 India launch

Unlike the Unicorn that runs on 18-inch wheels, the SP160 will run on 17-inch units.

Just a few days after the launch of the Dio 125, we have now learned that Honda will be launching the SP160 during the upcoming festive season, which is based on the same engine and chassis platform as the Unicorn.

Honda had earlier announced that it’s working on a new 160cc bike and now we can confirm that it will be called the SP160. As such, we expect it to share a lot of styling cues with the smaller SP125. However, the engine and chassis are shared with the recently updated OBD-2 compliant Unicorn. As such, the SP160 will be powered by an air-cooled, 162.7cc, single-cylinder mill that’s good for 12.9hp at 7,500rpm and 14Nm at 5,500rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Where the SP1160 differs from the Unicorn is in the fact that it gets a slightly smaller 12-litre fuel tank, but it weighs 2kg more, at 141kg. Another difference is that the SP160 will run on 17-inch wheels as opposed to the Unicorn’s 18-inchers. The SP125 gets a 276mm front disc and can be had with either a 220mm disc or 130mm drum brake at the rear, which means that the SP125 will likely be offered in two variants.

Currently, the Honda Unicorn is priced at Rs 1,09,800 (ex-showroom, India) and when the SP160 is launched next month, we expect it to be priced around that same ballpark.
