The IIHM Institute of Hospitality Skills (IIHS), a training centre affiliated with the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), has opened its state-of-the-art facility in Delhi.

The centre aims to provide comprehensive courses on hospitality skills, catering to professionals seeking to upskill and enhance their career prospects. With a prime focus on vocational training, IIHS aims to bridge the skill gap and empower individuals in the thriving hospitality industry.

The establishment of IIHS was triggered by the recent recognition of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) as the recipient of the Training Partner Award for Highest Training Centre Affiliation.

MTDC’s Aurangabad resort to turn into fully women-operated facility

According to a state government resolution (GR) on the implementation of “Aai”, MTDC’s tourist accommodation in Aurangabad would be the first fully women-operated tourist facility. Its Aarka Restaurant in Kharghar will function as a fully women-operated restaurant. Women tourists will enjoy a 20% discount on MTDC’s tour packages, according to the GR. The government would reimburse the tour operator.

“In our industry there is a great demand for skilled manpower, and Delhi, being a hub of business, provides a great platform for hospitality skills development,” said Dr Suborno Bose, Founder, IIHS at the launch. “This is part of the Government of India’s Skill India mission. We are collaborating with Skill India and THSC to train hundreds of skilled hospitality workers for India,” Bose added.IIHS aims to open 100 centres across the country within the next two years, with a mission to educate 100,000 young unemployed professionals and help them join the hospitality industry. Apart from the Delhi centre, the courses are also being offered at all IIHM campuses across India.

“This is a great initiative by IIHM and their infrastructure is a class apart,” said Dr Sunita Badhwar, Vice President, Standards, Tourism and Hospitality Skills Council (THSC).

“Skilling should be embedded from class 6th as the industry is not just looking for graduates but skilled manpower. IIHM is aiming to open 100 centres and this is only the start, taking the skilling to the next level,” she added.

IIHS certifications are recognised by Government organizations including the Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Skill India. These certifications can provide students with an edge in the job market and validate their skills and expertise.
