The Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani led Satyaprem Ki Katha has taken a decent start in advance bookings. As of Tuesday morning, the movie has sold 11,000 tickets in the three national chains – PVR, Inox and Cinepolis – and the trends indicate an overall advance in the range of 40,000 in the three chains alone.
Being a reunion of Kartik and Kiara after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the film should take an opening in double digits, however, the advances indicate an opening in the range of Rs. 8 crores, which again will be a good start given the budgets involved. Satyaprem Ki Katha is essentially a word-of-mouth film and hence, it’s not the opening, but the Monday that would matter the most. If the film manages to record a minimal drop on Monday, it will be headed for a strong run at the box office.
The biggest plus for Satyaprem Ki Katha is the budget, which is kept under check and the movement in advance shows that there is an interest in the audience. It isn’t exactly an event film and a start bigger than Kartik’s last release, Shehzada will set the ball rolling for this love story.
The momentum of bookings needs to continue today and tomorrow as its that momentum that will tell us where the film is headed. But the target for Satyaprem Ki Katha will be somewhere around 40,000 tickets in the three chains.
