Lanvin invites rapper Future to collaborate on its first ‘Lanvin Lab’ collection

Lanvin is changing strategies with a radically different creative approach. Last April, following the departure of its creative director Bruno Sialelli, the Parisian fashion house announced its intention to set up the ‘Lanvin Lab’ concept, “an experimental space welcoming creative partnerships with established and up-and-coming international talents.” The project is kicking off with rapper Future.
 

After Louis Vuitton appointed singer Pharrell Williams to lead its menswear, Lanvin is also calling on a musical artist. Atlanta-born rapper, singer, songwriter and producer Future, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Cash, is considered one of today’s most influential musicians. He won a Grammy Award this year for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Above all, he has over 24 million followers on his Instagram account.
 
The artist has been invited by Lanvin lab “to create a capsule collection celebrating an innovative and individualistic vision that bridges the gap between music and fashion,” says the brand in a statement, describing Future as “a visionary whose artistic influence extends far beyond music and entertainment, resonating with large swathes of today’s culture.”

“Music will be at the heart of the first version of Lanvin Lab. Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter and muse, Marguerite, was an accomplished musician and music has largely inspired the mythology of the house”, points out the label, which is owned by the Chinese firm Lanvin Group (formerly Fosun Fashion Group).
 
The collection, which will be created in collaboration with Lanvin’s studio, will include ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women, and is due to hit shops at the end of the year. “The Lanvin Lab projects will take the form of collaborative collections and will complement the seasonal ones,” says the luxury house.
